Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute all café menu items according to established recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards to ensure consistent quality.
- Coordinate the kitchen line during peak hours, ensuring orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene by cleaning and sanitizing workstations, equipment, and utensils throughout the shift in compliance with health regulations.
- Execute systematic food prep, including washing, chopping, and pre-cooking ingredients to ensure the kitchen is ready for high-volume service.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in managing stock lists to ensure all necessary ingredients are fresh and available.
- Adhere strictly to food safety protocols, including proper temperature control, labeling, and storage of all food items.
- Collaborate effectively with the front-of-house team to manage ticket flow and accommodate special dietary requirements or modifications.
- Monitor kitchen equipment functionality and report any maintenance needs to management promptly.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by assisting colleagues during busy periods and maintaining a professional demeanor under pressure.
Desirable skills and experience
Must-haves:
- Candidate must possess at least a Vocational Diploma/Short Course Certificate, Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts, Food & Beverage Services Management, or equivalent.
- At least 1–2 years of experience as a Cook or Line Cook, preferably in a fast-paced café or breakfast/brunch environment.
- Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards (HACCP).
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by the café’s operating hours.
- Exceptional ability to manage multiple orders simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and food quality.
Nice-to-haves:
- Previous experience in stock management and cost control.
- A proactive and open-minded personality with the ability to adjust to menu changes and seasonal specials.
- Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate smooth communication between the kitchen and service staff.
